Alana's Chinese Barbecued Pork

Ingredients:

2 x 375g (12oz) lean pork fillets
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons dry red wine
1 tablespoon honey
1 tablespoon brown sugar
2 teaspoons red food colouring
1 clove garlic
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
shallot

 

Method:

1. Combine soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, red wine, food colouring, crushed garlic and halved shallot in large bowl. Sprinkle cinnamon on top, add pork, marinate one hour, or cover and refrigerate overnight. Turn occasionally. 

2. Drain pork fillets from marinade. Reserve marinade. Put pork on wire rack over baking dish.
3. Bake on BBQ or in the oven, with lid covered, for 30 minutes, turning frequently with tongs and basting frequently with marinade.
4. Remove from oven, put on board and allow to rest. Cut pork into diagonal slices to serve.

 

Recommended accompaniment: Rice and a healthy salad with summer fruits present.
