Lake Macquarie

At the waters' edge of Lake Macquarie accessed from the rear of Brightwaters Cottage

If you are heading to the Central Coast of NSW, a great area to stay is spectacular Lake Macquarie.

Lake Macquarie is Australia’s largest coastal lake and is truly breathtaking. Interestingly, holiday houses are rare in this area, with many large residential homes occupying the prime waterfront areas and surrounds. So staying in a holiday house at Lake Macquarie is a unique experience that only few people get to enjoy.

This in itself makes Brightwaters Cottage a great find for anyone wanting to experience this fantastic region. Lake Macquarie is well serviced with local supermarkets and other conveniences for your stay. The other drawcard is the location of the house, being literally right on Lake Macquarie. You simply walk down the driveway to the water’s edge and can wander along the shoreline which is public reserve for all to enjoy.

Nora Head

Lake Macquarie is in a prime tourism region. Not only can you enjoy the lake itself; you also have easy access to tourism attractions including the Hunter Valley, Newcastle and the spectacular Central Coast. One of my favourite places to visit is Norah Head; where you can sit on the grassed reserve with some fish and chips, overlooking the rugged coastline and the surfers catching the waves. There is also an historic lighthouse you can view. You might even take one of the guided tours available.

The cottage has a warm and inviting atmosphere with polished floorboards, carpeted bedrooms and even a study with your own desk and chair for you to keep up to date with your emails or social media updates.

Relaxing at Lake Macquarie

Relaxing at Lake Macquarie

There are some great vantage points around Lake Macquarie, from where you can sit back and relax with a book, take some great photographs, or sit in solitude as you absorb the breathtaking and peaceful surrounds. Swans, pelicans and various waterbirds are just some of the lake’s wildlife you can expect to see.

This is great accommodation in a great region; you really will enjoy your stay at Brightwaters. My family and I loved it!
