Other attractions include wild beaches, the unspoilt Rocky River, vast wilderness areas and cultural heritage sites – including two lighthouses.

5. Meet the Wildlife


Seal Bay Conservation Park 


With one-third of Kangaroo Island either a conservation area or national park, you are bound to have plenty of wildlife encounters. From sea lions, kangaroos, little penguins, brushtail possums, fur seals, koalas, Tammar wallabies, birds, to short-beaked echidnas, and goannas – you will see them all. Watch the seals at Seal Bay Conservation Park. See the penguins at Kangaroo Island Penguin Centre. See the Birds of Prey. At Parndana Wildlife Park, the second largest park of its kind in South Australia, you have the opportunity to hand-feed kangaroos and wallabies, pat koalas and talk a walk through their aviary.


6. Get The Adrenaline Pumping With Some Adventure Activities

On the first Sunday of every month, join a selection Kangaroo Farmer’s Market and KI Community Market stall holders offering regional food together with artisan crafts, arts and bric-a-brac. Here, you can sample Kangaroo Island’s impressive array of artisanal producers, from organic yoghurt and cheeses to biodynamic eggs, fresh crayfish, handmade cordials, and curry pastes.

With its abundant marine life, you are sure to encounter Truncate coralfish, Blue Devil, Boarfish, and Harlequin as you go snorkelling or scuba diving. For an opportunity to dive with seals, head to Western River Cove or check one of the 50 recorded shipwrecks.
